Huacachina is like a landscape from a sandy planet. Located near a quiet little town of Ica, approximately a 4-5 hour drive from Lima. Huacachina is a small paradise where you can take some time to relax while visiting Peru. The Oasis is a mysterious lagoon in the middle of the Ica desert\u2019s white sands. There are a few places to stay and charming little restaurants which overlook a stunning lagoon but more importantly, it\u2019s surrounded by large sand dunes. You can relax by the lagoon or enjoy a cool beverage in one of the restaurants but I recommend you making a bumpy trip through the dunes in one of the dune buggies (dismembered cars like from “Mad Max”) and see a breathtaking sunset from the top of the dunes.<\/p>\n
Once you get to the top of the dunes you will approach what will seem like the end of the world and at virtually top speed. Few things are as exhilarating as the drop the buggy takes after it reaches the summit. Whilst driving through the dunes the driver will stop and give you time for a surf down a sand dune. Sand boarding is loads of fun. I fell more times than I\u2019d like to admit but I loved every minute of it and will definitely do it again if given the change. The driver was very safe and it was definitely a thrilling ride! I recommend wearing sunglasses. It\u2019s not so much for the sun as it is for the sand and wind that will be hitting your face as you race across the dunes. Huacachina is incredible and dunes are spectacular. My only regret is that we didn\u2019t spend more time there.<\/p>\n
